Endeavour 2017

Automotive engineering excellence, from Endeavour 2017.

The Melbourne University Racing (MUR) team competes in Formula SAE. This is an annual international design competition, where teams of engineering students from universities around the world are tasked with designing, developing and producing their own Formula SAE car in line with FSAE regulations [PDF] over the course of 12 months.

Performance in all parameters

Judges assess the overall package of design, construction, performance and cost of the vehicle. The competition includes an endurance race, where teams race against the clock to achieve the fastest lap times over a 22 kilometre track.

Formula SAE has truly been a valuable year of experience. The team has spent a lot of time designing and building a strong and competitive combustion car for this year’s Formula SAE competition. Being part of such a dedicated and passionate group of students has been a fantastic opportunity. Team Coordinator Nisha Nijhar.

MUR takes part in Endeavour each year, building both a combustion (MUR-C) and for 2018, an electric vehicle (MUR-E). Each team works on new technologies for each sub-assembly, including chassis, steering and suspension and engine.
