Volunteer at Endeavour

You can be a part of Endeavour no matter what stage you're at in your degree. You can volunteer with the Endeavour Exhibition for extracurricular experience and networking opportunities with industry and academics.

As a volunteer, you can help us coordinate the event to make sure that our student projects get the attention they deserve. The event attracts industry representatives, academia, the student body and members of the public giving you the chance to connect with the broad engineering and IT community.

Applications close Sunday 17 April at 11:59pm. Late applications will not be accepted.

Applicants will be contacted Tuesday 19 April 2022 with the application outcome. Successful applicants will receive the first draft of the volunteer roster the following week. All volunteers will be required to attend a Volunteer Briefing Session on Tuesday 10 May 2022.

Role description

As an Endeavour Volunteer, you'll be required to assist with pre-event set up and the on-the-day support of the Endeavour Exhibition. During the Exhibition, you'll assist at the Exhibition spaces, with audience greetings and questions, the judging schedule and direction as well as support the event's promotional and marketing activities.

Time commitment

As a volunteer, you'll be required at Melbourne Connect for between 5-13 hours across three events, depending on the roster and availability.

Endeavour Bump-in (set up) Tuesday 24 May 2022 9:00am - 12:30pm and/or

Endeavour Exhibition and Awards Wednesday 25 May 2022 10:30am - 1:30pm and/or
1:00 -  4:00pm and/or
5pm onwards Awards shift

*All volunteers must participate in the briefing session to be considered for the role of Endeavour Volunteer.

The briefing session will provide you with all the information you need before the day and what you'll need to do.


Tasks will be allocated based on your abilities but you'll have the chance to complete an Expression of Interest form to give preferences for the type of role you would like.

Endeavour bump-in (set up) - Tuesday 24 May

  • Assist the Endeavour Events Team in setting up the Project Student displays in the exhibition space in Melbourne Connect.

Event Day - Wednesday 25 May

All Endeavour Volunteers will be required for the Endeavour Exhibition during a morning and/or afternoon shift. There will be volunteers allocated to:

  • Set up banners, posters and directional signage
  • Welcome visitors as the first point of contact at the Exhibition entrance, handing out collateral and recording attendee numbers with a manual clicker
  • Engage the public to participate in voting for the People's Choice Award
  • Assisting at Volunteer HQ, facilitating volunteer sign in/out processes, bag storage, t-shirt distribution, drinks and snacks distribution
  • Assist with the sign-in for the judging panel, providing criteria documents and receiving completed assessments
  • Instagram takeover - film videos and take photos of the exhibition space and activate our social accounts
  • Wearing the "Barry the Bea" costume
  • Escorting and supporting the University of Melbourne mascot "Barry the Bear" around the exhibition space and assisting with marketing campaigns and public engagement
  • Help manage attendees in following COVID-safe protocols
  • Help manage attendees in answering any questions
  • Assisting the Endeavour Events team in other duties as required.
